Inesa Brašiškė

Vilnius-based art historian, curator, Head of Research at Sapieha Palace / Contemporary
Inesa Brašiškė is a curator, art historian, and writer based in Vilnius. She currently serves as Head of Research and Curator at Sapieha Palace, and has previously collaborated with institutions including the Contemporary Art Centre (CAC), where she has curated exhibitions and contributed to public programming.
Her work focuses on postwar and contemporary art, with particular attention to Eastern and Central European contexts, as well as transnational artistic exchanges. Her research engages with questions of historiography, artistic mobility, and the circulation of ideas across geopolitical boundaries, often examining practices that unfold beyond dominant Western narratives.

Brašiškė has written extensively for exhibition catalogues and international platforms, and has participated in lectures, conferences, and research initiatives addressing underrepresented art histories. A significant strand of her recent work is dedicated to the study of André Cadere, the Romanian-born conceptual artist known for his itinerant practice in 1970s Europe. Her ongoing research on Cadere examines the conditions of artistic production and display, as well as the dynamics between artists and institutional frameworks.

Through her curatorial and scholarly practice, Brašiškė contributes to a broader re-evaluation of artistic positions shaped by displacement, marginality, and cross-cultural exchange, bringing renewed attention to practices that challenge established narratives of modern and contemporary art.
The Invitation

Subject: Invitation to Serve as Jury Member – The Threshold Online Exhibition

Dear Dr. Brašiškė,

I hope this message finds you well.

On behalf of Palazzo Vimana, I am writing to invite you to serve as a jury member for The Threshold, an upcoming online exhibition dedicated to exploring artistic practices that engage with states of transition, liminality, and the conditions of being in-between.

Given your work as a curator and researcher, and your thoughtful engagement with transnational art histories and practices shaped by displacement and mobility, we believe your perspective would be especially valuable in the selection process. Your research on André Cadere, in particular, resonates with the conceptual framework of the exhibition, which seeks to foreground works that challenge fixed positions and negotiate the boundaries of institutional and spatial belonging.

The Threshold will bring together emerging and established artists working across media, presented in a digital format that emphasizes accessibility and international dialogue. As a jury member, you would be invited to review submissions and participate in the selection of artists whose work meaningfully engages with the exhibition’s theme.

The selection process is scheduled to take place [insert dates], with all materials made available online for your convenience. We would, of course, be happy to accommodate your schedule.

It would be an honor to have Inesa Brašiškė join us in shaping this project. Please let us know if you would be available and interested, and we would be glad to provide any additional details.

Thank you for considering this invitation. I very much hope you will be able to participate.

Warm regards,
[Your Name]
