Anders Kreuger


Anders Kreuger (born 1965, Sweden) is a curator, writer, and educator known for his leadership in European contemporary art institutions and his critical writing on museology and cultural exchange. Since 2019, he has served as Director of Kohta, a privately initiated kunsthalle in Helsinki that focuses on independent and international exhibition programs.

Curatorial career


Kreuger has developed and led art institutions across the Nordic region and Europe. Before Kohta, he was Senior Curator at M HKA, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Antwerp, where he advanced research-driven exhibitions and international collaborations. Earlier roles included Directorships at the Malmö Art Academy and the Nordic Institute for Contemporary Art (NIFCA). He has also served on the Programme Team of the European Kunsthalle in Cologne and curated shows for institutions in Lithuania and Finland.

Writing and critical engagement


A regular contributor to Kunstkritikk, Kreuger writes on institutional critique, artistic freedom, and the role of museums in society. His essays combine curatorial reflection with political and linguistic analysis. He has edited numerous catalogs and texts and participated in the editorial boards of the London-based Afterall and the Ghent journal A Prior.

Teaching and influence


Kreuger has taught at the Royal College of Art in London, the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, and other European art schools, sharing his expertise on curatorial practice and language-based artistic approaches. His work often emphasizes dialogue and social context in art presentation, making him a significant figure in the Nordic and European contemporary art landscape.
